DC VET WB Study visit in Helsinki – as partner organisation of the European Project “Developing Capacity for VET Systems in Western Balkans”, of the DC VET WB project, a study visit was held in Helsinki on 11-13 June 2024 hosted by Luovi College.The training seminar which will be based on the exchange of practices, lectures, workshops and working groups to improve teachers’ skills in supporting learners with fewer opportunities.

Day 1:

Welcome and Introduction

DC VET WB study visit in Helsinki commenced with warm greetings and an overview by Mari Kontturi , outlining the objectives and scope of the visit. Participants engaged in ice-breaking activities facilitated by Sirpa Grönvall and Sari Jokela .

Exploring VET system in Finland

The morning began with insights into Finland’s renowned VET system and a presentation by Luovi’s Director, highlighting its global educational initiatives led by Anne Tornberg. Discussions on maximizing the study visit’s impact and planning for the future were guided by Mari Kontturi before a networking lunch.

The afternoon delved into inclusive practices through workshops led by Sirpa, focusing on personalized study plans and collaborative student networks.

Day 2:

Alternative Teaching Methods

At Luovi, participants delved into alternative teaching methodologies with Arja Vatanen, emphasizing interactive and accessible education strategies. The day concluded with sessions on plain language communication, vital for engaging diverse student groups effectively.

After a collaborative lunch, participants gathered at Luovi Vocational College to reflect on insights gained, brainstorm future actions, and outline concrete steps forward.
